Picking White Paints Based on Color Science

So, color science, huh? Yes, color science – understanding the color tone, its affects on persons and physical spaces to invoke a feeling or mood based on design intent. Because I use color every day in my design practice, I find that I am intuitive regarding color and selecting color and knowing where color should be placed for maximum impact. However, color can be scary for a lot of people, blue? No way. Green? Definitely not. White? Yes!

Well, while white is most of the time a defacto standard for a lot of people, there are also a ton of whites to choose from. Do you want warm white, cool whites? Does it need to have blue, pink, yellow, or green undertones? Do you want two or three different shades of whites in the same room? Do you want an extreme contrast, or more subtle? These are all questions that should be answered when working with a design professional when selecting the perfect shade of white to compliment your home.
