Home Remodeling Ideas from EK Kitchens + Design:
Thoughtful Design Across Styles, Budgets & Locations
Every project in this portfolio started the same way: a conversation about how someone actually lives, and how their space could work better for them.
EK Kitchen and Designs has completed remodeling design projects across Lakewood, Metro Denver, the Colorado foothills, and mountain communities including Morrison, Evergreen, Conifer, and Granby. The work ranges from high-end kitchen transformations to phased whole-home renovations to second homes designed for seasonal use in the mountains. What connects every project isn’t a signature aesthetic — it’s a design process grounded in listening, problem-solving, and practical wisdom built over more than two decades.
Good design doesn’t look one way. It looks right for the home, the family, and the life being lived inside it.
Kitchen Remodels — Function, Beauty & Longevity
The kitchen is almost always the most complex room in a home to remodel well. It’s where spatial constraints, mechanical systems, storage needs, workflow habits, and aesthetic vision all collide — and where the difference between an experienced designer and a well-intentioned one becomes clear quickly.
EK Kitchen and Designs approaches every kitchen project with the same priorities: layouts that genuinely improve how you cook and move through the space, storage solutions that reduce daily friction rather than just add square footage, and materials chosen for durability and timeless appeal rather than trend cycles.
Our Lakewood and Front Range kitchen projects often involve working within the footprint of older ranch homes and split-levels — maximizing what’s there rather than blowing out walls unnecessarily. Our mountain kitchen projects bring different considerations: altitude, the demands of a vacation property used hard in short bursts, and materials that perform in climates with dramatic temperature swings.
Whether the style is modern, transitional, farmhouse, or mountain-rustic, the underlying design discipline is the same.
Whole-Home Remodels — Cohesion, Character & Long-Term Livability
Whole-home remodels are where experience matters most. These are complex, multi-phase projects that require vision across the entire home, not just room by room — and the patience to hold that vision through the inevitable friction of real construction timelines and real budgets.
Our whole-home projects focus on improving flow between spaces so the home functions as a cohesive environment rather than a collection of disconnected rooms. Many of these projects involve updating homes built in the 1970s, 80s, and 90s — homes with good bones and strong character that deserve to be honored, not erased. The goal is always to make the home feel more like itself, just better.
Phased remodeling is a particular strength. Many clients — especially in Lakewood and the surrounding Jefferson County communities — aren’t in a position to renovate everything at once, and they shouldn’t have to be. We design with the full picture in mind while executing in stages that respect budget and timeline realities.
Mountain & Second-Home Projects — The Foothills to the High Country
Designing for mountain homes and second properties requires a distinct set of considerations that most Front Range designers simply don’t encounter regularly. EK Kitchen and Designs has completed projects from the Morrison and Red Rocks corridor through Evergreen, Conifer, and into the Granby and Grand County area — giving us genuine, hands-on familiarity with what mountain remodeling actually demands.
That includes material selection for climates with hard winters and low humidity, design decisions that account for seasonal use patterns rather than year-round occupancy, and the logistical realities of coordinating contractors and deliveries in areas where access isn’t always straightforward. It also means understanding that a second home used primarily on weekends and holidays has different functional priorities than a primary residence — and designing accordingly.
Mountain homes deserve the same level of thoughtful, professional design as any other home. We bring the same rigor to a Conifer remodel as we do to a Lakewood kitchen.
Frequently Asked Questions — Portfolio & Project Process
Are all of your remodeling projects completely custom? Yes. Every project EK Kitchen and Designs takes on is designed specifically for the client, the home, the investment level, and the intended use. We don’t apply templates or repeat solutions. The portfolio reflects the range of what’s possible — not a fixed style or formula.
Can I see projects similar to mine before we start working together? Absolutely. During an initial consultation, we can walk you through past projects that are relevant to your scope, style, or location — including kitchen remodels, mountain homes, phased renovations, or projects at a similar investment level. The portfolio here is a representative sample; the full body of work is much broader.
Do you list budget ranges or project costs in your portfolio? We don’t publish investment levels alongside portfolio images, because cost varies significantly based on scope, materials, contractor relationships, and site conditions — and we’ve found that numbers without context tend to create more confusion than clarity. Investment levels are discussed directly and transparently during the consultation process.
Can you manage a mountain or second-home project remotely? Yes. Many of our mountain projects involve a combination of on-site visits at key decision points and remote collaboration in between — including virtual reviews of materials, finishes, and design iterations. Clients in Evergreen, Conifer, Granby, and other mountain communities shouldn’t have to sacrifice design quality because of distance.
